19NOVEMBER 2024Nanofiber Quantum Technologies (NanoQT) has emerged as Japan's pioneering startup, revolutionizing quantum computing through its innovative nanofiber-based cavity Quantum Electrodynamics (QED). This technology enhances the scalability of quantum systems by further integrating quantum computers directly into quantum communication channels, paving the way for a comprehensive quantum ecosystem. But, the development of an optimal cavity is often challenged with high loss, insufficient atom capacity and inefficient integration with optical fiber networks. NanoQT's nanofiber-based cavity effectively solve these issues with low light loss, high atom accommodation of up to 10,000 atoms and the scalability necessary for quantum computers and repeaters. The heart of NanoQT's technology beats on the interplay between neutral atoms and photons as qubits where the atoms process and store the quantum information while communication occurs through photon exchange. The nanofiber cavity plays a pivotal role in facilitating deterministic quantum information transfer between atoms and photons. Enhancing the potential for large-scale quantum computation, this configuration allows for unprecedented computational power. This hybrid nanofiber-based cavity system combines neutral atoms and photons, enabling the seamless integration of computational units into optical fibers, acting as quantum repeaters and interconnects for photonic and neutral-atom-based QPUs. Neutral atoms have shown potential for scalability, and Cavity QED technology acts as a bridge between neutral-atom and photonic qubits, essential for quantum networking. NanoQT has announced a research collaboration with the University of Calgary to explore the architecture and performance of a quantum repeater using a nanofiber cavity QED system. This partnership aims to enhance the understanding and application of quantum repeaters, which is crucial for building scalable quantum networks.NanoQT has partnered with Xanadu, a Canadian leader in photonic quantum computing, to enhance quantum research and strengthen Japan's quantum ecosystem.
