The increasing complexity of semiconductor devices has been a defining trend in the industry. With the rise of AI, 5G, electric vehicles, IoT, and high-performance computing, semiconductor chips are becoming more compact, powerful, and multi-functional. This evolution necessitates higher precision, efficiency and more functionality in final testing to ensure performance, reliability, and quality. For instance, automotive ICs call for more sophisticated test methodologies to meet strict safety and reliability standards. During this trend, NS Technologies had played a pivotal role in Final testing process.

Our product, IC Test Handler, is equipment used in the semiconductor inspection process that automatically classifies ICs into categories such as good or defective based on the inspection results from the tester. As a dedicated manufacturer specializing in logic IC Test Handler, we are committed to continuous technological innovations to enhance productivity in semiconductor inspection processes.

Our IC Test Handlers are widely adopted by major IDMs and OSATs, earning high recognition for their stable operation and productivity improvements. Notably, our NS Series has been a de-fact standard IC Test Handler since its release, serving numerous customers for over 30 years.

As semiconductor devices become more diverse, temperature control during final testing is more critical than ever. ICs used in EVs, aerospace, and industrial applications must withstand multi-temperature variations, requiring advanced thermal management solutions during testing.

In 2024, we launched our latest Tri-Temp models, which expanding our low-temperature testing environment. These models are handlers with low temperature functionality that inherit our best seller model concept, which is the high performance of our existing ambient and high temperature machines.
One of key features of the Tri-Temp model is its LN2-Free technology, achieving test temperatures ranging from -55°C to +155°C without relying on liquid nitrogen (LN2), improving both energy efficiency and safety. Additionally, the handler has a dry Chamber System that can prevent condensation and frost, enabling continuous operation by filling dry air in the transport area. Our new product enables manufacturers to ensure the reliability of semiconductor devices in harsh operating conditions.

Furthermore, as with our ambient and high-temperature handlers, the transport system for input and output remains the same and is equipped with an “Easy Setup function”. This function enables self-diagnosis of transport accuracy and automatic adjustment of the transfer offset. Additionally, when combined with temperature compensation for expansion, it minimizes the risk of jams even at low temperatures, thereby reducing downtime.

Automation & Smart Manufacturing

As industry moves toward greater efficiency and automation, many IDMs and OSATs are beginning to implement automated transport solutions. We are developing solutions that integrate AGVs, AMRs, and RGVs for tray and device transport, ensuring compatibility with both new and legacy systems. Furthermore, SECS/GEM (Semiconductor Equipment Communication Standard/Generic Equipment Model) has become a standard requirement for real-time data sharing between test equipment and factory systems. Our handlers equip this function.

Semiconductors Driving Future Technologies

With the growing demand for EVs, autonomous driving, AI, and IoT, the semiconductor industry is experiencing a surge in IC testing needs. We are actively developing inspection solutions tailored for EV ICs, enhancing Active Thermal Control (ATC) functions for improved efficiency.

Edge Computing and IC Miniaturization

As IoT devices continue to shrink, ICs are becoming smaller and more complex. Our focus remains on enhancing throughput, precision, and the stable handling of miniaturized devices to meet diverse customer demands. Additionally, with semiconductor production volumes continuing to grow, test efficiency has become a major focus. The demand for multi-site testing and high-throughput solutions has led to the development of handlers capable of testing 32 sites or more simultaneously, significantly increasing units per hour (UPH). Our NX series handler is capable of 32-site testing with a throughput performance of over 20,000 UPH.
